Alkira Secondary College - linked with RAEME Association (Vic) Inc

The RAEME Association (Vic) Inc has established a link with Alkira Secondary College in Cranbourne, to assist the students in their knowledge and appreciation of Military Service, in peace, conflict and peace-keeping operations.  A number of Association members were interviewed by Year 10 & Year 11 students and presented a summary on May 31 2013.  A report appeared in the Cranbourne ‘Leader’ newspaper on 29 May 2013.

President John Boothroyd with Alkira Secondary College students David Ramos (RAEME Award recipient) on the right and Jacob Bird (the recipient of the Anthony Byrne MP Award) on the left.  The Awards were in relation to the VCAL Program “In Their Footsteps”, in which the students researched the sacrifices made by Australian Servicemen & women in various conflicts.

Shrine of Remembrance Observance by Alkira College VCAL Students

On 16th October 2013, and again on 16th March 2014, groups of the Alkira Students visited the Shrine of Remembrance in Melbourne, accompanied by representatives of the RAEME Association (Vic) Inc and representatives of the Shrine.   The students viewed the Stone of Remembrance in the Sanctuary, and participated in a wreath-laying ceremony at the RAEME Tree.
